If you pass, I think 12a3a leaves you with about 5% at best.

If you take and always recube you win the game about 15% (11/72 and adding a fraction for 21 twice) Assuming that you always recube 15% x 37% = 5.55% and you'll save about 1.4% 1/12 of the time or .11% more..so 5.66%

That seems close enough to also make recubing correct. I'd recube an expert or better OTB and let me opp worry about it. I did the math here as I'd do it in my head while playing given that I was alert and willing to burn some clock time.
