Double Twos

13/7, 11/9.
This play is kind of complex... probably the reason 22 would be the toughest number to play is that aside from 11 it would be the number with the most possible plays.
I have not tried to always make the best play with doubles... I have kind of given up on it, because it is so damn hard to do. I just try to not make a really lousy play now. Evaluating the relevant features of a position and our priorities seems to give us a better chance of coming up with something that is "tolearably wrong" if not right.
You wanted to escape but you can't... and your back checker will have to face the music during your opponents turn. Normally I would like to make a better board by making the 4 point and playing 11/7, leaving a blot on the midpoint. However in this instance that leaves a couple of joker fly shots, and failing that White will attack and force us to roll well by hitting us loose.
The midpoint blot may be marooned while we are attending to business entering from the bar... So those fly shots can add up. If we get pointed on then those fly shots can be fatal in nature. Also, if our back guy should make it to the outfield somehow, which was his goal this turn... the midpoint blot will provide an additional target and twice the shots. We don't need more blots in this position.
It may be that pointing on the ace point as a diversion may provide us with the needed time to escape, but I haven't taught my mind's eye to accept those plays. Here I would not be so surprised if 3/1(2) 11/7 was best, but I probably would not see it over the board... as I didn't see it before I started writing this!
I clean up blots with my play and prepare to focus on my number one priority, escaping. I will be maneuvering my last checker to do just that, and denying White the added equity of the fly shot in the meantime. At least I have a plan and I made a play that caters to it. It might not be exactly right, but even a flawed plan can work sometimes.
I should be balanced to carry on with this game for quite a while as I am biding my time to escape.
