Double Twos

This is a tough one for me. 6/4(2) looks automatic, but we have to think about both players' gameplans here. Blue wants to escape the last checker and bring everything home. White is hoping to contain Blue's checker, and the best hope for doing that is to attack Blue's back checker. Because Blue has rolled 22, Blue cannot budge the back checker, so it will be under the gun of four White checkers next roll. Blue really doesn't want to get hit and have White pick up a second checker while Blue dances. These factors argue for the safe play of 13/9 11/7. This play also keeps everything in front of White's anchor and leaves a flexible position for the future.
11/7 6/4(2) looks pretty, and building a stronger board affords some protection against White's imminent attack. The 4-point is a permanent asset. The main disadvantage is the blot on the 13-point which, as mentioned above, could lead to a disaster if it is hit.
Pointing on the 1-point takes away half of White's next roll. But Blue is not guaranteed to solve his problems next roll even if White rolls an average roll, and the cost of putting those checkers out of play on the 1-point looks too great. I don't think either 6/4(2) 3/1(2) or 11/7 3/1(2) are very good.
I'm still not sure what the right play is, but I think I would play 13/9 11/7. I think 11/7 6/4(2) loses more gammons and I don't think it picks up enough extra wins to compensate.
