Dunno if I'm a typical gnubg user, but I never use the "stop at/stop when" rollout features. I look at the evaluations, and pick what I think will be an adequate number of trials. If that turns out to be insufficient, I extend the rollout if time and interest allow. For me, getting those features to work exactly how I might want them to work would be a low priority for the Gnubg team.
