Here is the more important point. We have rules. The tournament directors insist that we players live by them. But if they don't like a rule, they simply choose not to.

If you don't like a rule, try to get it changed, but while it is there, like it or not, do your best to live by it. That is the essence of society; or rules.

When I agree to go to a tournament, I agree to live by the rules. When you agree to run a tournament, you are agreeing to live by them and enforce them too.

It doesn't matter whether you think a rules committee is a good idea or not...you accept the rules or you don't play.
