The more I stare at this, the less value (and urgency) I see for making the 21 point. Seems like there will be plenty of time for improving the defense since white's immediate priority will be to clean up the mess. I still don't care much for the long term connectivity problem by switching from the mid to the 11 point. So I have now convinced myself that making the 4 point is a better way to go.
