What I think you're saying is that there's not much motivation for the gnubg team to implement this feature, and I agree with that. The question remains, though, whether it's easy to write a "wrapper" script that calls gnubg and accomplishes what I suggested, without having to change the actual gnubg source code.

The wrapper solution would be a mess IMO.

If everybody on this forum agrees this is an absolute need for the DePreli (bis) project, I may raise the issue once again to the gnubg guys and see if we can make it. But I've heard that a large chunk of the positions have already been rolled out so ...

I do think it is easily doable, the only doubt I have is on the limited usage that the function has (plus the fact that the function will be understandable by only, let's be generous, 1% of the gnubg users).
