How true! That's the responsibility of the people who actually run clubs and tournaments in the US. However, these free for all discussions can be great fun and some good does come out of them.
Further: Rules need to be standardized internationally
No, they don't. As a player, if I'm attending a tournament in, say, Las Vegas, I couldn't care less if that tournament has the same rules as a tournament in, say, Stockholm. As a tournament director, my rules will either be those of my affiliate organization, or (if I'm not bound by such an organization) will be whatever rules I think are best.
And: the best thing to happen is after we have a US Federation of Players who can set up an international committee ... to agree on a clear, precise set of rules ...
Phil, whatever it is you expect your organization might accomplish, please make this the least of your priorities.
