Timothy: For comparison, here's a money-game position where one has to choose between pointing and priming, and pointing comes out ahead. It's not exactly parallel to the original position but I think it's still a useful point of reference.

I entirely disagree. Your reference here is very different, and does not represent the nature of the DMP play that this 62 has.

I think that the 62 position is more about future parlays and the relative weakness of the hole you create in the homeboard by pointing vs the 'I'll wait it out until I can make my barpoint' strategy. Your position is all about salvaging what you can by saving the gammon, then chasing the victory. If you fail to hit in your position, then your opponent just about emptied his bladder laughing at you, and is begging for more. In this 62 position, it is about priming vs momentum.

So, in both, I point on the blot. If I had more checkers in the hitting zone (3rd quad), then I would be playing the priming game.
