Pretty funny how it has come full circle. Neural nets were revolutionary exactly because they represented thinking outside the box. Conventional human wisdom was thrown away to let the computer figure it out for itself with no preconceived notions. The results were often shocking, counterintuitive, going against all we believed we knew - yet correct. We changed as a result.
