Time to stir the cauldron again... Appeals committee

While I respectfully disagree with Pat's past position to not permit the appeals process, I do understand his point.
His point is that regardless of whether he or the appeals committee makes the final ruling, the ruling reflects upon the tournament and he as the director and not the appeals committee is the one that reaps the positive or negative impact of such reflection. Furthermore, the potentially lengthy appeals process can delay the tournament which can have a negative impact on everyone's impression of the overall event. Pat simply believes that if he is going to be the one that ultimately reaps the reward or pays the price for a ruling and the time it takes to come up with one, that it should be his ruling. If he is accountable, he should be responsible.
Ultimately, it is my hope that he will be swayed in the other direction. Due process and the sense that justice has been served is ultimately more important and in my opinion produces the best reflection on the event. The current appeals process makes it far less likely that a director will be overruled and far more likely that in such an unlikely case that the unanimous committee will have reached the correct and fair decision.
