Interesting you should bring this up. From time to time I play heads up with some Turks who like to play for fairly large stakes but do not want to use the doubling cube. Of course, with no cube, there is no Jacoby Rule, but we still award for gammons and backgammons. T

he result is that we have had some very interesting games that played to the end that would not have otherwise. I suspect that if there were no Jacoby Rule, even with the cube in play, the same thing would happen.

Another result is without a cube or Jacoby Rule, checker play strategy is different...possibly even more complex.

In other words: I see your point!
