Another downtime-reducing rule involves what happens when only one player wants to take the box's cube (or, less commonly, when less than half the team wants to take). Depending on local custom, the lone taker may be required to take extras from his teammates, may be required to beaver the cube, or, less commonly, may not be allowed to take by himself at all. The idea is to limit the number of occasions where two players play heads up while the rest of the chouette stands around.
