Well, Matt...

It is right to double that position at that score if 70% of your opponents will pass it. In this case, 100% of our opponents dropped it.

Presumably David Startin would not have been too chicken to take it, however, he would have been too chicken to redouble it!

Psychology is important in this game. I think the Germans knew they were outplaying us so maybe they just decided that they would do better by passing? We would have to consult Jake and Trices fish book to know for sure.
