Ed and I won the doubles. We had never sat at the same board together before this weekend. But we wound up facing each other round 2 in the main event. I must have impressed Ed with the way I won that game. Yes, game - as I skillfully managed to win the 15 point match with a gammon on an 8-cube. We had some good laughs afterward. To start the match I had asked Ed if he would be willing to play with a clock. He declined commenting not to worry because he played pretty quickly. I had no idea.

Ed Bennett and I played in the Last Chance today, and the match took all of nine minutes.

I've heard great things about Ed Bennett but it was great to have this chance to finally see for myself.

And I'd like to echo that... he sought me out to give me New Mexico tourney fliers for our club, and we chatted a bit about that tourney. A real nice guy, glad to have met him. It's good for the game that the nice guys overwhelmingly outnumber the jerks.
