Simple, but Instructive !! #2 -- OTB

I know this is simple but maybe the considerations are valuable to our less experienced readers.
If I get backgammoned I lose the match. If I run with out of Julian's home board with one of the checkers I may or may not get a shot on the next roll. If I do not, there are nine numbers of the thirty-six that get me backgammoned provided Julian does not roll an ace. If I step up with both of the back checkers, only the 2-1 fails to save the backgammon if Julian doesn't roll 2's or better. So, even considering the parlay where he leaves a shot and I hit (if I run with only one checker), I still increase my backgammon save chances by 400%+ by stepping up with both back checkers.
I played 24/19, 24/21. Julian did not roll a double (nor did he roll an ace). I did not roll a 2-1 and lived to play another game.
