No, we haven't had a flap. I did wonder if a couple different combinations of political type stuff I posted had you annoyed. So that's cool, and why I put in the little smiley. Good to know I'm not on the shit can list since I have liked reading your stuff over the years.
I assumed that I could be included by some in part of last springs thread because I had just told my friend that yes I had used the bot previously on a similar position to mamabears and gave my answer from that without really saying where I got the info. And told him that depending on whether I got around to posting my opinions early or late in the day I may or may not have seen bot info. And then it was less then a week later the "people are using bots" thread shows up.
But I thought "I'll make double clear when I do and don't use a bot for analysis" And in truth I did sometimes post after using a bot, although my intent wasn't to look good, it was to be useful. And 80% of the time it was not aided. But after that thread I was careful not to do that at all, without being clear. As I said, it doesn't bother me, but the site is suppose to be a high level for everybody so I'll go by the standards people choose.
I also felt if people think it's unethical they may make the leap to that people would use them in online play. And I'd be in someone's face about that. Since I don't care so very much if someone uses a bot to post an opinion on a website where there's no competition or prize, but I DO care if cheaters populate the internet gaming sites, since that really harms the game.
I think someone's post differing from the bot only rarely in a couple years is harming their own game development. How can you learn without tackling the position in your own mind?
I also think dropping to bots is silly. I don't know why someone would care about those few ratings points they save. Myself I don't like ever having unfinished matches. I do think many weak players get angry and drop because they think it's rigged the dice.
Good site Stick. (Don't ever confiscate someone's money for nebulous "play style" reasons as I'd hate to see this one drop off too like Gammonline seems to be.)
