Bot Comparison 100 / 500 games

GNUBG 2-Ply is slightly better than GNUBG 4-Ply in the "Missed Doubles" category, and Extreme Gammon 3-Ply is slightly better than Extreme Gammon 5-Ply in that category. Is this oddity a statistical fluke that will be resolved when more games are rolled out? Or is there a logical explanation of why a lower ply discerns doubling opportunities better than a higher ply?
