Again we note a few things here.
1) XG is ahead of other bots for each ply. XG 5ply checker play is really good and XG 4 ply cube use is well ahead of other bots and settings.
2) Snowie 4 seems to be quite close to GNU 2 ply. Once again and sounding like a stuck recording, I stress that it is a shame for Snowie users that there hasn't been a patch to do RO according to score and also a shame that there hasn't been a patch to take advantage of multi threads and cores.
3)GNU 3 ply checker play seems to clearly be an improvement over 2 ply, but 3 ply cube use is too mistake prone.
4) Early initial doubles are really hurting BGB.
XGR+ is almost but not quite finalized yet. Last night Xavier sent me his results of a long test showing that it is 7.2 elo stronger than the XGR from the current version..ie shown in this table. I am most certain that XGR+ will score better in the cube catagories than XGR has and especially the take catagory. I also expect some gain in checker play. Will this be enough to be equal to 5 ply? I'm unsure, but I do have to again state that I really am impressed with how well 5 ply checker play has scored. I expect that you'll see results for XGR+ in the next table after it is finalized.
I do feel that any XG users with a decent computer currently would do well to analyse their matches using 4 ply.
