A related variation, similarly difficult to solve, is: if you double your stack on the first hand of the tournament, has your equity doubled, more than doubled, or less than doubled?

My view is that your equity has doubled, but only if the tournament is winner-take-all. Otherwise, your chance of winning has doubled, but your chance of finishing second has less than doubled, so your equity has less than doubled.
