Tough problem! The first play I eliminated was making the 5 point, since it gives a double shot and doesn't do all that much to smooth out our awkward distribution. The second play I tossed was covering the ace and hitting inside, because that leaves him with an anchor-slot in front of three of our checkers, giving him mega good rolls even if he doesn't hit.

A play you didn't mention, making the 3 on his head, seems way too risky despite the advantage of equalizing the boards. 24 shots (or however many it actually leaves, if I counted wrong) plus all that clean-up if we're missed but can't continue the attack, just seem to many and too much.

Making the ace point seems lame; we have an anchor and he has blots, and also a lead in the race, don't we want to run or attack? But the run (21/11) leaves us as the ones to get attacked, since just about all those Magriel criteria say he should do so and we're assuming he has some concept of the game. Bringing two checkers down prepares to attack, which has to be a good idea since it greatly improves our distribution for that attack, but it also concedes the midpoint and leaves him those 8 shots outside, which might be too much.

OtB I would bring the midpoint down 13/7, 13/9. But if I'm Captain in your chouette, and you really think we should weenie out with 11/1, speak up; you might talk me into it. (And even if you don't, you still might be right!)
