I think if you read Stick's post more closely you will see that you are mistaken.

Stick: "This also leaves the 'Readers' with lots of fish to help in their voting, like Nack if has time to participate, MCG, etc..."

I believe that "etc" is an acronym for "Ever Tough Coolrey".

Anyway, Stick's major criteria seemed to be "but they'd have to be super active on the site". And I think this is essential for it to work. That is probably just as important a factor as backgammon skills.
