1. Put the two checkers on different points if you can. 2. Don't put a checker on the 6-point. 3. Put the checkers as far apart as possible.

Your post came in after my direct response to Tad, or I would have included a mention of your method.

As far as I can tell, the only exception to your algorithm is that 6 3 is slightly better than 5 4 (when you roll 21, you gain 4 numbers on the roll after).
