I'm guessing these positions came up while Tim was playing one of the bots. Anyway, I agree with Neil that Blue should in general concentrate on getting the 14th checker home. So, bar/23 15/9 in the first position, and 8/1 in the second. If you don't follow that plan, in the first position, for instance, very rarely would you be ever to first anchor on the 15 point, second break the point (a good opponent will break up his 5-prime to make sure you get few extra turns to roll a winning 6-6), and third bring both checkers home.
