Thanks for the responses (you and Rich and Neil). They confirm what I was arguing, though I was in the minority. (By the way, this didn't come up when I was playing a bot. A bunch of my colleagues like to play backgammon for entertainment and not money, and so they'll not infrequently steer towards a superbackgame for the amusement value.)

Here's a question, though. It seems that there is some value to anchoring in front of the prime, if you get that opportunity, in an effort to force the opponent to crack the prime. So for example, in the position below, do you still think it's right to leap rather than to anchor?
