Breaking the 18 leaves 28 shots most which hit and cover one of the blots in the board, so that is a no. Breaking the 13 is not nearly as dangerous. It leaves 21 shots, again many which hit and cover one of the blots, but those hits are likely to leave some potent returns for us, some of them even double hits. The problem with that play is it really achieves very little and it takes the pressure off his men on the 16 point. If he doesn't roll a hit and cover he will probably just fill in his board and we may end up in an 18 point holding game where we could be forced to break first, since we are ahead a little in the race. The best play is 8-4, 7-1. We can make points in our board over the next couple of rolls while keeping pressure on his 13 and 16 points. If we get lucky he may be force to break the 16 first or we may roll a double that escapes from the 18.
