I have trouble with plays like this, in sorting out priorities... hope I'm not too far off. 8/4 to start the next point we want, and 7/1, not because we want the ace point, but because (a) I don't want to break the midpoint, (b) I don't want to stick a stilted third checker on the deuce, and (c) I want to retain some flexibility to make good inner board points.
