I had played a nice 2.2 in this match and assumed that when reviewing my errors, I'd be looking at a bunch of small errors, and that the couple of large errors would derive from some the tough decisions I had made over the course of the match. It was disappointing to come across this one. Disappointing because I was simply on auto pilot and did not actually stop to consider my choices. I quickly looked, saw that 8s were blocked and then immediately made the rote midpoint clearing play. Never even remotely considered running off the 20 point.

Every so often it is important to get slapped across the face and woken up. Reminded to slow down and not rush. The simplest of situations are not always so simple if you stop to think about what is going on.

Kit may have said that every roll is a cube decision. Perhaps I should say that every roll is a Quiz Factor situation. I have no doubt that I'd have gotten this right if someone else posted it. The key is to train oneself to give oneself the opportunity to get these right OTB.
