Was the move sequence something like that? (Blue's rolls are underlined, and his hits from the roof can be 7s other than 61.)

I would play K (Kill 18/14* 6/2*). Maybe P (Point 8/2* 6/2) is theoretically better (I'm not sure) but if it's close then I like K because it leads to more complications, gaining additional equity against a weaker player.

If White enters/hits with a 2, then at least Blue retains all fifteen checkers "in play" (against White's multiple checkers back) and he might hit the blot on White's 5pt, spoiling her development.

To some extent, it is a matter of efficiency: The blot created on Blue's 2pt can be covered with a 6 or 4 or it can shift-hit with a 1, whereas White's 11pt blot can only be hit with a 4, so I'd exploit that use of the 4 now and hope to reduce long-term contact in the good variations.

I recommend P if playing against a stronger player or perhaps at scores where lost gammons count more than won gammons. While perhaps not terrible, I can't see R (18/14*/8) being best under any circumstances.

Nack
