After 23/17, it is either 24/23 or 23/18. 24/23 leaves a ton of blots and is very gammonish. 18/17 leaves 3 checkers piled up on the 24 point disconnected from the 17 point anchor, and that is going to be trouble.

This game has quite a bit of play left and black still has work to do. Lack of an outfield point will make it a bit more difficult for black to bring this home. Perhaps it is better to forget about the hit since those options are so sucky and just put the checkers where they belong.
