useless problem?

Interesting point, but I doubt that it applies in real life or for practical matter.
Really?!
I would bet that the players would improve and learn more from the second experiment. That's what I meant by practical life and improvement.
Obviously it will depend on which positions you pick but I would imagine you could learn a lot more from the first part.
Suppose that the positions are almost exactly similar except for the equity differences (because of race or shot numbers or covering numbers or whatever). If you are able to understand and learn anything from the answers to the first part you should be able to answer the second part with 100% accuracy. If you learn the answers to second part first it doesn't necessarily do anything for your game in the first part (or where the error is somewhere in between the two, like .05).
Of course I agree with Rich's point that I don't just gloss over my biggest errors when I am playing or analyzing a match, since those are my leaks. But it usually takes all of a microsecond or two to come up with reasons for the best play when the second best play is a blunder, regardless of whether I made the second best play or not.
