for the actual current ratings of all 744 currently active DBgF members.

Eyeballing the names (many of which I am no longer familiar) I'd say that roughly the top 300 would be the potential field for the open flight of a typical second echelon two-day tournament, and the top 180, say, for a stronger international-type tournament. There are very good open players rated towards the bottom of those ranges, but I would expect participants to more strongly represent the top half of them. So perhaps (I speculate) that 100% of the top half of a range plus 50% of the entries in the bottom half would give a better sense of the range of actual tournament players.
