Nice quiz! I was sure of my answers only for #3 and #8, in case that makes anybody else feel better :).

I especially enjoyed the Holmes problem, having been a fan of Raymond Smullyan's books The Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes and Mysteries of the Arabian Knights (I'm not sure if I'm remembering the second title quite right).

In the early 90s, I published a Scrabble rag entitled Medleys that (among other things) contained story-puzzles based on a character Scrabblock Holmes -- greatly fun and challenging to write.
