Slotting the 9pt looks clear to me as well. You can't redouble (let alone cash) next roll whatever you do, so you should maximize your chances to make a six-prime and lock up the game. I would venture the same play even if White's ace point were covered.

It's cute that Rich was rewarded in the roll sequence. It looks like you hit with an ace and he entered with 53, entering and covering from the 12pt, resulting in the position shown in your other problem.
