i assume that you played 8/5 13/9 --- which only gets hit with 2/36 shots --- the problem here is that blue's position is strong and white's is WEAK. he owns is 1 point --- NEVER a good thing when mutual contact/priming is an option. a better board and better prime should lead you toward making the "bold" 2 down play. positions where you own the 18 are extremely robust. even if you are hit, you will probably be the favorite (wcs, close)
