I wonder if I'd have gotten this right had someone else posted the problem. As Stick points out, what you do over the board on autopilot when you don't slow down to really consider alternatives, and what you do on this site when considering a quiz problem can be two very different things. This is yet another lesson to me. Perhaps just as Kit says - "every roll is a cube decision", it is equally true "every roll is a quiz".
Needless to say, you can't make the right play if you never look at it. I entered, made the 4 point and then looked for the last 4. Once you look at the correct play (which most of the posting readers found), it becomes clear how very right it is.
