White's timing is such that I think 20/17(2) is necessary. Waiting until later to run off the anchor is going to entail a lot of risk.

For the last two 3's, I think that playing completely safe with 7/4 6/3 is too costly, so I see four candidates: 7/1*, 4/1*(2), 13/7, and 8/5 7/4. If I'm going to leave a direct shot then I think 13/7 is best, so the choice is between 13/7 and 4/1*(2). I think we're trying to push Black forward and out of the way rather than contain him, and 4/1*(2) also leaves the fewest return shots.
