Thanks for the info. I have a few comments/questions.
>>>>If more than 32 players, then probably 6 prizes...
How would ABT points be given out then?
>>>"The point system which will be in effect for the WBGT (and the US Open being part of it) will favorize the US players to collect more points and make up for their disadvantage to travel to Europe and Japan to compete on more stops."
Is the point system known yet?
>>>"I will deduct $3k from the prize pool of the Masters to pay for seat of the winner at the WBGT final"
Could such winner also qualify on points and then get a bye at the final? If there is a similar format for the final that does not seem possible. If not, is the won seat transferable? Is it transferable even without that reason?
>>>"Round 1: 1 vs. 5 / 2 vs. 6 / 3 vs. 7 / 4 vs. 8 Round 2: 1 vs. 6 / 2 vs. 7 / 3 vs. 8 / 4 vs. 5 Round 3: 1 vs. 7 / 2 vs. 8 / 3 vs. 5 / 4 vs. 6 Should a player already lose 3 matches, he is out for the competition and can enter side-events, etc... That leaves an odd number of players in the group. His number (for example 8) is taken out and a we draw a number randomly from the remaining ones. That number (for example 2) sits out for the next round as the rotation in pairings continues."
It seems like the pairing rules are entirely laid out in advance (including some random elements) and that the director will never deviate to avoid rematches. Is that correct? When you say the rotation in pairings continues I take it that the next round would have been 1 vs 8 which is impossible since 8 is out, so then try 1 vs 2 also impossible as 2 drew the bye, and then do 1 vs 3 which works. So 4 plays 6 and 5 plays 7. Correct?
>>> "The next round with an odd number of players will have the next number (in this case 3) will sit out."
Good, this guarantees that no one ever gets 2 more byes than someone else.
