Absolutely. As your other post shows, there is a stark contrast between the fine tuning of the checker play NN and the gross estimations the bots make about the cube efficiency.

There has already been a thread about that and nobody seemed to object that "neural-netting" the cubeful equities would be great, but resource-consuming for match play, since it would have to be done for each score and each cube value.

Even without going all that way, it seems that plugging the cube efficiency could be OK, but that better heuristics for determining it are called for.

I think that Kit Woolsey knows some examples where the bots fail to cube because they overestimate their future cube efficiency.
