The 15k listed for Snowie here have the top 3 plays almost tied based on live cube values (I strongly recommend using live cube values rather than cubefully adjusted values)

This means that the additional 15k to get "Snowie .. [D S5 Z8 U11] 31k" must have produced significantly different results?

Yes, the Snowie rollout posted on this site is [D=Z S1] 15k (and yes, I only quote full precise live cube results, unless otherwise stated).

I extended that same rollout (actually assigned it out) and the result is now [D S5 Z8 U11] 31k 15kU. (Btw, the 31k instead 15k of U was a typo in my previous post, but that's beside the point here.)

By deduction, the second half of the rollout was [D S9 Z16 U11?] 15k, as you probably more or less suspected. This is an example of variance I've seen between 15k's.

Recapping...

[D S9 Z16] 15k

Same bot, two different 15k rollout segments.

This is why I'm skeptical of short rollouts.
