...why I went out of my way to make the game play so well, was that average backgammon players would be able to improve their game by learning from a world class bot.
I'm impressed with the playing strength of your app (bot). Have you done any Deprelliesque (Deprellarian? Deprelliish?) studies to accertain exactly how strong it is?
In general, I'm delighted with the app. It's by far the best backgammon-related purchase I've made on my iPhone. I would unhesitatingly recommend it to others on the forum.
My wish list for enhancements would include:
* The ability to enter positions and analyse them on the go;
* The ability to save interesting positions;
* The ability to browse a database of such positions;
* The ability to export such positions to another PC-based bot (by for example exporting a list of GnuBGIDs or XGIDs);
* The ability to see more detailed equity info (such as gammons and BGs) by clicking on the equity bar;
* A setting to toggle on Crawford/Jacoby etc;
* The ability to do rollouts, or increase the analysis ply;
* The ability to share interesting positions with others via email or the web (perhaps have a way to post them directly to this forum!!);
* The ability to play head-to-head with another iPhone user using the bluetooth link
As I've suggested in previous posts, I would LOVE to see a backgammon app that uses Machine Vision algorithms to translate photographic or video footage of boards into electronic form for export to a bot. I've done some investigations with Hough transformations etc, and I believe this is quite possible.
I suspect that if you added these types of features, you'd attract a good number of the pros who probably still think mobile backgammon is a gimmick of no practical use to them.
Anyway, thanks for writing a superb piece of software.
