No way do I make the 2 point and leave the 16 disaster.

2*1* is automatic at any score where gammons matter, but they don't here. If black is going to anchor, I'd rather it be on the 1 point than on the 2 point. So 2* is clear. Between 1* and R, I don't much care. But I suspect that I would play 1*. It will either work, or it will get hit back and give enough time for black to further trash his board and possibly expose another blot and possibly open the door to be trapped off any anchor he makes. And I question whether any bot is going to milk this play for what it is worth.
