Stick and Rich pretty well covered it. The game shouldn't be at DMP, but it is, so you need to do what it takes to win. You're not much better than 50% to escape the 23pt checker in five rolls, so in most cases you'll need to conjure up additional time to do that. You might get that time by closing a fifth point in the board and/or hitting Opp when she enters (without hitting you). Lifting with 6/1 considerably weakens those prospects.
