Never, never , underestimate the value of learning something you already know. If you already know something, and then learn it again, you will remember it better, be more sure that it is right, and more likely to use it when appropriate.

Back when I started playing backgammon, on FIBS, I soon learned that I had to get hold of Magriel's "Backgammon", but that was not so easy to get hold of. When I finally got a copy I had already picked up quite a bit of theory here and there, from rec.games.backgammon and other places on the net, so when I read the book there wasn't one single concept that was new to me - I had heard it all before. In the following my month my FIBS rating, which had been stable for some time, leaped by almost 100 points and stabilised nicely at the higher level ...
