Favorite board?

I completely agree with Carter. I love a Taki board too...nothing feels and sounds as good as the dice clicking against the wooden sides, and the surface grabs the dice as they roll. Moving checkers on a well-made wooden board just feels right. Taki's surfaces do wear out and are expensive to replace and if you travel a lot, you will also have repairs to some of the joints and wood inside eventually, but it's worth it.
The boards my good Turkish friend, Mete makes are extremely similiar to Taki's, cost about the same, have improved construction, and have a synthetic surface that wears like iron and is easy to clean with water and a little soap, and they are beautiful. I'm prejudiced because Mete gave me one as a gift in thanks for helping his game with lessons (he went from a beginner to novice in just 6 years), and I HAVE NO FINANCIAL STAKE in his company or boards, but it's the best board I've ever owned or played on.
You can find his boards at http://www.fmgammon.com/
The Zavoral board holds up great and is wonderful, and it is lighter and easier to travel with.
