delay time is usually in order to be used for shaking, rolling (sometimes re-rolling), and picking up the dice, leaving your reserve time to think and to play. tests we did show that in average, the time needed for shaking, rolling and picking up is 7 seconds. 12 seconds leaves enough time to throw in a quick comment without using any of your reserve time. doubles are like singles as for the shaking and rolling and picking up time, since one player is actually playing. for consulting purposes, doubles need more reserve time, which is 3 minutes per point instead of 2 minutes. please bear in mind that doubles are time-consuming, much more than singles, simply because the 2 players in the same team argue about almost everything and both take time to think and re-think and think it to death....
