Yes, something (a great deal, actually) got lost in the translation. I analyzed the match on HG Roller+. According to that program, both John and I played at a "World Class" level with John having an estimated ELO of 2148 and me having an estimated ELO of 2098.

Yes, John did have one triple blunder cube error in the last game but otherwise played exceptionally well. Yes, my cube handling was too conservative in terms of sending and receiving cubes. But overall I think it was a very well-played match with a number of interesting positions (some of which I will post in the coming days if my work situation permits).
