I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your first question, but as for your second question—this is not a simple problem. Black has two chances to roll a 1 so the number of ways of bearing off in two rolls is very relevant. And a priori it's not obvious to me that the score doesn't matter, because the cube is not dead.

Next to the opening positions, these late endgame positions are among the most commonly arising positions and they can be quite subtle. Not to mention that they are often critical because the cube can get jacked up in a hurry. I've thought about trying to build a table of them, akin to Stick's table of opening moves, but I haven't yet figured out a way to distill the information down into the most useful form.
