OTB, I would think that Yellow surely has a take. Yellow has a 5-point anchor, and enough of a prime to cause Black some difficulty with the back checkers.

With QF, I'm thinking perhaps Yellow has a drop. Yellow's huge race deficit is a serious problem. How is Yellow going to win the game? Racing and priming aren't realistic options. So Yellow must hope to attack Black's rear checkers at an opportune moment. But what moment is that going to be? An attack is no good with no home board points. Yellow therefore needs to build up a home board. By that time, chances are Black will have had a chance to run off the anchor safely.

To top it off, Yellow is ahead in the match. I don't have a good feeling for how much difference this makes, but surely it means that Yellow is a bit quicker to drop than for money.
