When those hands occurred, the players had huge books on each other from the earlier phase of the tournament. You've given us a hand after two players were eliminated, so there had been lots of FT observation. To state it in a vacuum like this is unrealistic.

Against a frequent, loose raiser, it makes sense to try to get isolated with a big threebet. Against Saout, just call.
